NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Employees of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, along with two spouses, collected a record 1,500 pounds of trash during a community cleanup effort on Sunday.

Ten employees and two spouses participated in the trash walk along South Buffalo Road, from State Farm Road to North Lake Road, then west to Highlands Estates. The group filled five pickup trucks and one trailer with collected debris, setting a new trash walk record for weight.

Despite rainy conditions, the group completed the cleanup, with Corporal Trevino providing traffic control to ensure their safety.

Participants included Shad, Derek, Marla, Brett, Brenda, Tom, Brent and Joanna, Wesley, Devon and Nicki. Organizers also thanked Wesley for bringing "power rings" to help with the effort.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office adopted this stretch of road as part of its ongoing commitment to community service.
