Hewgley Honored for 40 Years of Service at Lincoln County Commissioners Meeting

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (July 28, 2025) — Longtime Lincoln County Commissioner Joseph Hewgley was honored Monday morning during a surprise reception at the Lincoln County Commissioners meeting, celebrating four decades of service to the county.

Commission Chairwoman Micaela Wuehler led the recognition, presenting Hewgley with the prestigious Admiral’s Award on behalf of the Nebraska Governor. She also presented a personalized plaque created by Squared Away Engraving of North Platte, and thanked Hewgley for his leadership and mentorship over the years.

“Joe has been a mentor to many,” Wuehler said. “His knowledge, consistency, and dedication to conservative budgeting have left a lasting mark on Lincoln County.”

Sheriff Jerome Kramer also took the podium to present a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. He praised Hewgley’s long-standing support and collaboration with law enforcement.

State Sen. Mike Jacobson presented a Certificate of Appreciation and acknowledged Hewgley’s strong working relationship with the Nebraska Legislature.

“Joe has brought decades of knowledge and common-sense leadership to the table,” Jacobson said. “His work has benefited not just Lincoln County, but the entire state.”

In addition to Hewgley’s recognition, the board also honored Jeff Snyder, a Lincoln County Roads Department employee, for 10 years of service. Roads Superintendent Jason Schultz presented Snyder with a certificate and thanked him for his continued dedication to the county’s infrastructure.

“Jeff’s commitment to his work ensures our roads remain safe and reliable,” Schultz said.

Both recognitions were met with warm applause and standing ovations from those in attendance.
