NORTH PLATTE — A bicyclist was struck by a minivan Thursday, January 15, at the intersection of South Jeffers Street and East Philip Avenue, according to the North Platte Police Department.

Police say the crash happened around 4:39 p.m. when a pedestrian on a bicycle was attempting to cross the street and was hit by a white minivan, possibly a Chrysler, driven by a middle-aged woman with short blonde hair. The pedestrian reported mild injuries.

Authorities said the driver stopped to check on the bicyclist but left the scene before providing the required identification and information.

Following the incident, police asked for the public’s help in identifying the driver so the case could be properly documented. That request has since been canceled after the driver contacted the department, according to a police update.

No further details have been released.
