Douglas A. Seerley, 79, of Sutherland, NE passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital in North Platte, NE.
Doug was born on September 1, 1944 in Sutherland, NE the son of Gordon and Leola (Carter) Seerley.
Doug grew up in Elsie, NE and played football at Elsie High School graduating in 1962. He married Dora I. Wever on April 24, 1974 in Sutherland at the family home and together they had three children. He farmed in Paxton for many years. He worked for thirty years for Lincoln County roads as a maintainer operator and retired in 2009. Doug enjoyed mowing his lawn, BBQ grilling, and his pet cat “Jinx”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Leola; grandson, Camron Allen Ponce; sisters, Sunya Robinette and Lavonne Blaase; brother, Neil Seerley; in-laws, Francis and Agnes Wever, brother and sister in laws, Fred and Alberta Wever, and Pam Wever.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dora; daughters, Crystal (Randy) Yates of North Platte, and Mychelle Northey of North Platte; son, Troy Seerley of CO; grandchildren, Scott Ponce, Seth (Sharon) Ponce, Killen Seerley, Ashley Seerley, Brandon Enyeart, Andrew Enyeart, and Cason Northey; brother, Larry Seerley of Omaha; brother in laws and sister in law, Francis Wever of North Platte, George and Aubra Humphrey of Sutherland; and many nieces and nephews.
A joint memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. for Doug along with his sister-in-law Alberta on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating. The memorial book will be available to sign on Wednesday February 28th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
