Carol Ann Schaeffer, 76, of Noble, Oklahoma, died peacefully in her sleep on June 29, 2026 after a battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be at Parkview Community Church with Pastor James Trippett officiating. Burial will be in the McCain Cemetery in Gandy, Nebraska.

She was born on May 14, 1950 in North Platte, Nebraska to Edwin and Urah “Betty” (Moore) Schaeffer. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1968. She briefly attended MidAmerica college before appendicitis brought her back home to North Platte. She graduated from Cosmetology School in 1969.

Carol worked several jobs, including Mister Donut Bakery, K-Mart, and Runza restaurant, before finally working with Wal-Mart in the fitting room for 25 years. Many friends and family made a point to stop and chat with her whenever they were shopping. She officially retired in 2025. She spent her final year of life living in Norman, Oklahoma with her brother, Milford. He was her primary caregiver and the two had several good months together before her cancer returned.

She enjoyed quilting, reading, trying out new recipes, and spending time with family and friends. Carol was also a gardener and grew beautiful roses. She was a long time member of the Nazarene Church, where she was also a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Carol is survived by her daughter Amy (Will) Coffman of Sutherland, Nebraska; and four grandchildren, Megan (Caeden Versch-Marroquin) Coffman of Lincoln, Nebraska; Josie, Hazel and Miles Coffman of Sutherland, Nebraska, brothers Milford from Norman, Oklahoma, Mark (Sheryl) Schaeffer of North Platte, Nebraska, Terry (Cheryl) Schaeffer of Springfield, Nebraska, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister Karen.

In remembrance of Carol’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to KJLT Radio in North Platte.

Visitation will be Friday, July 10th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel from 12pm-5pm.  Funeral Service will be the next day at Parkview Community Church at 11:00 am.
