Regis Swanson, 72, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 18, 2024 in Kearney, Nebraska.
Regis-Heisler-Swanson was born February 25, 1952 in Mauston, WI. She was born to John and Doris Scully.
Regis attended and graduated from the Mauston area high school in 1970. She then moved to Milwaukee, WI, where she attended college for a period of time. Upon leaving Milwaukee she moved to Denver. Over the next several years she obtained her Realtor/Broker License. Regis sold Real Estate in the Denver area, a career she enjoyed because she loved people and helping them.
In 1980 she and her son Kent moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska, and purchased The Bar-W; she operated the bar for the next 10 or 12 years. During that time she made a tremendous amount of friends and became the friend of many more. Upon selling the bar she went to work for "Old West Realty". During her time with Old West Realty she had the opportunity to buy some pasture ground and began to put together her cow herd. Her cows were a great joy to her and she loved them dearly. Regis then bought and operated Gateway Realty of Gothenburg. She operated this until 2021, when she and her husband Doug retired to live on an acreage they had bought about 30 years prior west of Gothenburg.
Regis was preceded in death by her parents, John and Doris Scully, her sister Karen Donavan and her brother Jack Scully.
Regis is survived by her husband Doug of Gothenburg, her son, Kent Heisler (Stacia Darling) of Gothenburg, brother, Tom (Nora) Scully, sister-in-law, Mary Anne Scully, grandson Klay Heisler, granddaughter Kynley Heisler and a life long friend Maureen Mallory of Salt Lake City, UT; also numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
Celebration Of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to the Gothenburg Fire Department.
