Maxine Tilton passed away at the North Platte Care Center on March 18, 2023, at the age of 95.

Maxine was born August 12, 1927, to Harry and Martha Stackhouse at Maxwell where she grew up. Maxine graduated from Maxwell High School then went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in North Platte.

On June 28, 1945, Maxine married Don Christensen and they settled in Brady where they farmed and ranched until 1980 when they moved to the home place near Maxwell. In 1990 Don and Maxine relocated to North Platte to manage Platteview Apartments. After about 8 years they retired and returned to Maxwell. Following Don's death in 2002, Maxine married Clem Tilton on May 25, 2003. He passed away just a few years later in 2006.

Maxine was a member of the Maxwell Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped with Awana. She enjoyed her bible study time and was active in her grandchildren's lives.

Along with her husbands, Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dale Stackhouse and Vivian Bockus; son, Ron; grandchildren, Fiona Gwartney and Andrew Carstensen; and great-granddaughter, Jenna Max.

Survivors include Maxine's children, Sharon Christensen of Sutherland and Dan Christensen of North Platte; honorary son, Don Goosey, of North Platte; daughters-in-law, Rhonda Christensen of North Platte and Deb Christensen; grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Gwartney, Shawn Christensen, Shelly (Scott) Godbey, Matt (Rachel) Christensen, Missy (Ken) Baye, Dan Carstensen, Amanda (Corey) Liebreth and Jessica Carstensen; 15 great-grandchildren and other family.

Services are 11 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Maxwell Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the church.
