Ogallala Rural Fire Department
OGALLALA — A countywide response was paged for a structure fire in the Ogallala District on Wednesday evening.
Ogallala responded with Command, Engine, Tender, and Rescue with EMS coverage by Regional West ALS. KLFD responded with Command, Engine, Tender & 2 grass rigs due to the rural location, proximity to grass lands and challenging wind. Brule responded with a tender with other apparatus staging in quarters. Paxton responded with Engine, Tender, and additional grass rig. KC EM Kling responded and provided support for the affected family. KCSO provided traffic control. Power company responded to isolate power during fire suppression. Incident under investigation by NE SFM.

This fire would have been more destructive had it not been for the efforts of observant travelers who alerted the residents and utilized green lines (garden hose) to prevent further involvement of the structure. We did not catch their names but would like to thank these individuals. At 10:55pm OVFD paged for power pole on fire in the City. Agency responded with command and engine to prevent extension and to provide support for power company. OPD, KCSO, & NSP provided traffic control and public safety. Cause due to debris carried by wind arcing from high voltage line to cross arm.
