'Big Idea North Platte' event set for October 21

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-The public is invited to attend the rescheduled Big Idea North Platte business pitch contest taking place on Wednesday, October 21 at Godfather's Pizza, located 1100 S Jeffers St, North Platte. This contest serves as a way for members of the community to share their new business, product or invention ideas. 

The finalists in the community category are Ivan Mitchell, Joshua Grace, Travis Herdt, Signe Assels, Tommy Vieyra, Jerry Stroud, and Jeremy Wood. Finalists in the youth category are Chevie Henry, Rei Wood and Treyton Nichols.

The event starts at 6:00 pm when the top finalists give a two-minute idea pitch, then go through a short question, and answer session. From there, they will be narrowed down to the top five finalists by a panel of judges. Once the top five have been selected, audience members will decide who takes home the first, second, and third place prizes. Contestants are encouraged to bring their friends, colleagues and fans to secure their place. There is not an admission fee to attend Big Idea North Platte.

The North Platte Chamber and Development, Gateway Realty, and Great Plains Foot and Ankle have pledged prize money in the Community Category that is 19 and over.  The Youth Category is 19 and under NebraskaLand National Bank and Commercial Investment Properties have pledged prize money. In addition to the prize money, the winners in each category will receive a service package valued at $1600.00, compliments of The North Platte Telegraph, and Bill Troshynski.

North Platte Young Professionals are hosting the event.  It is NPYP’s goal through Big Idea North Platte to offer small business owners and stakeholders a premier and dynamic resource for business information, interest stories, guidance, and networking opportunities. They hope to promote the area to potential business owners and highlight the favorable environment and support available to the enterprise.
