Match Promotion - September 10 - Pups on the Pitch
The Bluejays return to the pitch Thursday at 7:00 PM against Saint Mary’s for this year’s Pups on the Pitch at Morrison Stadium! Bring your four-legged friend out to the stadium on Thursday night to enjoy a night of Soccer with you! Dogs will also receive a special treat upon entering the stadium while supplies last!
The kids zone will be open on Thursday night with bounce houses and activities that fans of all ages can enjoy! And to celebrate six straight unbeaten matches, you can get $6 general admission seats from now until Thursday at Noon!
Match Promotion - September 13 - Senior Day
Prior to the match the Bluejays will honor seven seniors or fifth-year players. At the event a limited number of posters with fifth-year student-athletes Clayton Brooks, Allan Juarez, Amari Thompson as well as seniors Diego Ferruzzi, Edward Morales, Matthew Reed and Andrija Savic will be available.
Series History: Creighton leads Saint Mary’s College, 2-0-0
Creighton lead Yale, 2-0-0
The Bluejays and Gaels met twice in a home-and-home during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Creighton posted a 1-0 win in each meeting.
Creighton and Yale have also met twice, the last coming in 2006 in Omaha. The Bluejays earned a 3-0 in that contest and also bested Yale 3-1 in 2003 in Connecticut.
Scouting #12 Creighton (5-0-1)
Creighton is scoring at an elite level though the first six matches, entering the contest with Saint Mary’s ranked in the top five in assists (1st - 30), assists per match (1st - 5.00), goals (1st - 22), points (1st - 74) and goal differential (2nd - +16).
The trio of senior Matthew Reed and freshmen Carter Tavares as well as Jordan Igwenma are leading the charge with 11 points each. Reed boasts a team-best five goals, including at least one in the last four matches, while Tavares has a team-high five assists.
Goalkeeper Matthew Hudson returned to the net after being sidelined for three matches against Santa Clara. Hudson did not allow a goal in more than 60 minutes. Hudson lowered his season GAA to 1.11, allowing three goals in just over 244 minutes.
Scouting Saint Mary’s College (1-4-1)
The Gaels come to Omaha following a 2-2 draw with Air Force on Monday, September 7. Saint Mary’s is 0-3-0 in road matches this season, getting outscored 11-2 (including a 2-0 loss at Marquette in the second match of 2026 for the Gaels).
The tandem of Cameron Kobey and Luke Schaefer share the team lead with two goals, while three others have one goal.
Three Gaels have split time in goal in six matches, led by four from Sam Bentley (15 saves and a 3.14 GAA). Against Air Force Tommy Davis played in his only match of the season, allowing two goals without a save.
Saint Mary’s was picked to finish eighth out of the nine in the 2026 WCC Preseason Poll released on August 11. Portland was picked to win the conference after making it to the Elite Eight in 2025, while reining 2025 champions San Diego were picked to finish second. First-year WCC member Denver was picked to finish third.
Scouting Yale (1-2-0)
With the Ivy League starting the 2026 later than many schools, Yale comes to Omaha at 1-2-0, dropping a 1-0 decision at Penn State on September 4.
The other two contests of the season saw the Bulldogs drop a 4-3 battle with Quinnipiac to open the season at home and best Army 2-0 on the road on August 31. Before coming to Morrison Stadium on Sunday, Yale faces Omaha on Thursday.
Five different Bulldogs have one goal this season, with Ethan Otterberg leading the team at three points.
Josh Linebaugh and Felix Wessels have split time in the net, with Linebaugh getting the start in the last two contests.
Yale was selected to finish seventh in the Ivy League’s preseason poll. Defending regular season conference champions, Princeton, earned 14 first-place votes to top the poll. Cornell was chosen to finish second and tallied a pair of first-place votes. Penn was picked to finish in the third slot. The Bulldogs, who finished tied for fifth last season, were picked to finish seventh in 2026. Harvard was picked to finish fourth, followed by Brown, Dartmouth, and Columbia.
Creighton Soars to #12 in Latest United Soccer Coaches Poll
Riding four consecutive victories and six undefeated contests to start the 2026 campaign, Creighton Men’s Soccer climbed to No. 12 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Ranking. After debuting last week at No. 23 with 11 points, the Bluejays collected 112 points, the poll was released on Tuesday, September 8.
Reed, Tavares and Thompson Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors
Building on three victories last week, a trio from Creighton Men’s Soccer earned individual recognition from the BIG EAST Conference on Tuesday, September 8. Senior Matthew Reed claimed the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, while Carter Tavares collected his second BIG EAST Freshman of the Week in 2026. Finally fifth-year goalkeeper Amari Thompson earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
With at least one goal in four consecutive matches, Reed seized the team lead with five. Reed delivered four goals this week, including game-winners at Tulsa and against Gonzaga. He tallied a pair of goals at Tulsa, then notched on goal in both wins this weekend in the Jesuit Invitational over Gonzaga and Santa Clara.
Tavares is tied for the team lead with 11 points, holding a team-best five assists on the season. This week the Bluejay midfielder had one goal and three assists in Creighton’s three victories. Carter scored a goal and two assists in the Bluejays’ 5-0 win at Tulsa on Monday, Aug. 31, then added an assist in the Bluejays’ 4-1 win over Santa Clara on Monday, September 7. Tavares has started five of six matches this season, including all three this week. He logged a combined 142 minutes in Creighton’s three wins.
Playing in just his second and third matches at the D1 level, Thompson posted consecutive shutouts to help Creighton win at Tulsa on Monday, Aug. 31, then best Gonzaga on Friday. The Brooklyn native notched six combined saves, facing 15 shots at Tulsa and eight versus Gonzaga.
Bluejays Dominating National Rankings
In addition to moving up to No. 12 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll on Tuesday, Creighton is listed in the top-five of eight NCAA statistical categories. To view the complete NCAA Ranking Summary for the Bluejays, go to page nine.
Creighton’s Start Offers Many Highlights
Off to a 5-0-1 start to the 2026 season, the superlatives for the Bluejays’ opening six matches are staggering.
The last time Creighton started a season without a loss in six matches was 2015 when the Bluejays opened 15-0.
Best goal differential (+16) since 1994 when Johnny Torres first stepped on campus.
The 22 goals scored eclipses the total scored in 2025 (21).
Second most goals in six games since 1994, Bluejay 2022 squad had 23.
Jesuit Invitational Update
Creighton and Loyola each closed the Jesuit Invitation at 2-0-0, while Santa Clara and Gonzaga both went 0-2-0. Although no official champion was named in the event, Creighton scored six goals and allowed just one, while Loyola scored four goals and allowed two.
Reed Looking to Become First Bluejay Since Duncan McGuire to Score in Five Straight
Over the last four matches senior Matthew Reed has made a habit of scoring from his defensive spot. Reed delivered a pair of goals at Tulsa and single tallies versus San Francisco (Aug. 27) as well as in both matches of the Jesuit Invitational. The last Bluejay to score in five consecutive matches, let alone deliver a goal, was Duncan McGuire during the 2022 campaign.
Creighton Soccer Posts Pair of Victories During 14th Annual Socctoberfest
Creighton men’s and women’s soccer continued the tradition of hosting a celebration of Socccer and Oktoberfest at Morrison Stadium. Oktoberfest is a folk festival rooted in Bavarian culture that centers on communal beer tents, traditional food, and historic parades. Originating in Munich, Germany the festival has grown into a global tradition.
With a pair of victories on Friday, the men’s team is 11-2-1, while the women’s squad is 7-1-4 in the event. Creighton’s men’s squad bested Gonzaga 2-0, while the women’s team defeated Northern Colorado 1-0.
