
Janet Rose Barnhart, age 73, of North Platte, NE passed away unexpectedly due to ALS on October 3, 2020 at UNMC in Omaha, NE. She was born October 22, 1946 at Scottsbluff, NE to Henry and Elsie Hass and grew up in Scottsbluff, NE.
She was united in marriage to Edward Lee Barnhart on September 5, 1965 at Minatare, NE. They lived in Sidney, NE and in 1975 moved to North Platte, NE. To this union 3 children were born.
Janet was a member of First Presbyterian Church in North Platte, NE. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a grandmother to her 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Janet was thrilled to find out she was going to be a great grandmother again to 2 more babies both coming in December due just days apart.
She loved holiday and family get together’s and any chance to spend time with her family was so important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for these special events.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Elsie Hass.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; children, Gerald (Kimberly) Barnhart, Tamara (Patrick) Forrester and Pamela Erickson and fiancé, Jim Pishna; grandchildren, Kourtney (Jose) Sabala, Clayton (Ashley) Barnhart; Hannah (Rick) Dolan, Emma (Tony) Hipke, Grace (Ariel) Quiroga, Tenaj (Jaimen) Combs, Madison Erickson and fiancé, Mark Gilbert, Kade (Samantha) Erickson, Chandler Erickson and fiancé, Chase Wiess and Jackson Erickson; and great grandchildren, Adeline Combs, Eddie and Ella Dolan, Amelia and Lillian Hipke, Kruz and Kaia Sabala, Vincent Weiss, Oliver Erickson and 2 great grandbabies due a day apart in December; sister, Henrietta Moore: brother, Richard Hass.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday October 9, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church in North Platte. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday October 8, 2020 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
