NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The North Platte City Council will meet this week with a full agenda that includes key decisions on the city’s budget, tax levy, and utility rates for the coming fiscal year.
The meeting will open with routine items, including approval of minutes, liquor license requests, certificates of completion for recent street and water projects, and a grant agreement with Visit North Platte.
But the main focus will be on the 2025–2026 budget. Council members are expected to hold a public hearing before voting on ordinances to adopt the budget, set the property tax rate, and approve the city’s salary schedule and user fees for the new fiscal year.
Also on the table are several rate changes. The council will consider ordinances adjusting North Platte’s electric, water, and wastewater rates, all set to take effect Oct. 1.
Other agenda items include approving a wholesale power contract with the Nebraska Public Power District, adopting an interlocal agreement with the North Platte Airport Authority, and approving major claims and payments for ongoing city projects.
The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. Members of the public are welcome to attend, and those wishing to comment on specific agenda items may do so at the discretion of the mayor.
