The North Platte Plainsmen today announced the hiring of Jared Jones as the team’s Head Coach for the 2023 season.

Jones currently serves as the Hitting Coach and Director of Player Development for Highland Community College in Highland, Kansas, where he enters his second season on the baseball staff. He played at Dakota Wesleyan University to finish his playing career, after time with Central Christian College (Kansas).

A native of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jones spent the summers of 2021 and 2022 coaching in the Cornbelt Summer Collegiate League, based in Omaha, Nebraska, where he served as Head Coach of the Omaha Cropdusters.

Jones earned a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Central Christian College and a Masters in Educational Policy from Dakota Wesleyan University.

Jones takes over for JM Kelly, who coached the Plainsmen in 2022 to a 31-21 record, good for third overall in the Independence League. Kelly has accepted a position with a team in another league.

The Plainsmen begin their second season on May 23, 2023. For information on the Plainsmen visit www.northplatteplainsmen.com
