NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) — The smell of sizzling pork chops filled the air this morning as the Lincoln County 4-H Program welcomed guests to its annual Pork Breakfast fundraiser at First United Methodist Church in North Platte.

Running until 11 a.m. today, the event offers a hearty breakfast for $15, which includes a grilled pork chop, eggs, a biscuit and orange juice. Guests have the option to dine inside or use a convenient drive-thru behind the church, located at the corner of E and McDonald streets.

The breakfast, traditionally held during NEBRASKAland Days, returns after a one-year hiatus and serves as a key fundraiser for the county's 4-H program. Proceeds support club activities, equipment needs and program development.

Lincoln County 4-H educator Caitlyn Jacobson says the money raised today could make a significant difference for local clubs. “Our goal this year is to purchase fencing and agility equipment for our dog program, and jumps for our English riding classes,” Jacobson said. “This event really helps us continue to grow and support all of our youth programs.”

4-H members Grace Wilke and Khloe Stutzman, both serving on the Lincoln County 4-H Council, also emphasized how the funds help clubs across the county. “We talk about what’s needed and how to support different clubs,” Wilke said. “This breakfast helps us meet those goals.”

The council, made up of local 4-H youth, uses parliamentary procedure and regular meetings to decide how to allocate funds and support their peers. In recent years, the council helped fund a trailer and equipment for the shooting sports program.

Cash and check payments are accepted at the door, while those wanting to pay by card are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.nebraskalanddays.com and present their receipt upon arrival.

Organizers say they’re hopeful for a strong turnout this morning and invite the public to enjoy a filling breakfast while supporting Lincoln County’s next generation of leaders.
