After social media debates on who is allowed at the new Skatepark, the City of North Platte has weighed in on the conversation:
To the North Platte Wheeled Community,
We understand there have been some misunderstandings regarding the newly opened Skatepark. The park was designed to be all- wheeled, non-motorized equipment inclusive—including skates, rollerblades, skateboards, bikes, scooters, and wheelchairs.
We apologize for any confusion and want to warmly welcome everyone—of all ages and ability levels—to responsibly enjoy the new Skatepark. SHARE THE SPACE RESPECTFULLY! Take turns so all users can experience it safely.
Because the park was completed and opened ahead of schedule, the sign from the original skate park was temporarily installed. Updated and accurate signage will be posted soon.
Plans are also being finalized for the new park across from Madison Middle School. This project will include rebuilding the original skate park as well as installing the pump track generously donated by 308 BMX. Once complete, this park will provide even more opportunities for bikes, skateboards, scooters, and other non-motorized wheeled activities.
