Gary Jay Zoerb (1937-2021)

     Gary Jay Zoerb, age 84, of Arnold, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Brookestone View in Broken Bow, Nebraska. 
     Gary was born on February 5, 1937 at the Arnold Hospital in Arnold, Nebraska to Marvin P. and Doris (Turley) Zoerb.  Gary grew up on various farms in the Callawy-Arnold area, where his dad farmed.  Gary attended country schools until he started high school and graduated from Broken Bow High in 1955.
     On June 23, 1957, he married Gail Francis.  To this union three boys were born:  Gary Dean of Minden, Nebraska, Dale Gene of Litchfield, Nebraska, and Dan Ray.
     Gary worked for Punch Pandorf after school until they moved to the Finch Ranch near Arnold and Gary started farming on his own.  After five years, they moved to Mason City, milk cows and all.  Gary was a member of the Baptist Church, an EMT for 40 years, a fireman for over 40 years, a member of the Custer county Sheriff's Posse, and was in Law Enforcement for 40 years.  When Gary retired, they moved to Arnold, Nebraska.
     Gary is survived by his wife, Gail; sons, Dean (Julie) and Dale (Linda); ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, David Francis.
     He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin & Doris Zoerb; his father-in-law, Verle Francis; mother-in-law, Naomi Ness; brother-in-law, Doyle Francis; sister-in-law, Brenda Brychta; and son, Dan Zoerb.
     Graveside services will be on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Waldheim Cemetery with pastor Irv Jennings officiating.  Memorials are suggested to Homeward Trail Bible Camp.
