
Joseph A. King, 95, of Sun City Center, Florida, went to be with his Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the James A
Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, Florida, with his daughter, Mary, by his
side.
Born in North Platte, Nebraska, on January 5, 1928, to
Charles and Mary (Reese) King, he was one of four children. Mr. King
served in the US Navy, enlisting in 1945 at the age of 17. He met the
love of his life, Susan Peterson, and they were married in 1950. They
were married for 64 years until her passing in January 2015.
Mr.
King was a Business Owner in the Home Improvement Industry for several
years in Nebraska relocating to Florida to be near family. He worked as
a handyman after his retirement in 1992, living in Pinellas Park and
Homosassa Springs, FL.
Mr. King's hobbies included golf, gardening, and forever cheering on the Nebraska Cornhusker Football Team.
Besides
his wife, Susan, Mr. King was predeceased by his parents, siblings:
Mary, Charles, and Edward King, and sons Stephen and Anthony King.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Peter King (Patsy) of
Knoxville, TN, daughter, Mary Farrar (Douglas) of Brandon, Florida,
seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two
great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of his Life will be held
on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Baylife Church, 1017 Kingsway Rd,
Brandon, Florida 33510. Friends will be received at 11am in the Student
Worship Center with the service starting at 11:30am. A reception will
follow immediately afterwards.
