SUTHERLAND, Neb. — Fall is officially in the air, and Sutherland is ready to celebrate with one of its most anticipated events of the season! The 5th Annual Sutherland Makers Market Craft and Vendor Fair returns on Saturday, September 27, bringing a full day of shopping, family fun, and community excitement to downtown Sutherland.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Walnut Street will be closed to traffic and transformed into a bustling festival featuring nearly 70 vendor booths. Visitors can browse handcrafted goods, boutique items, homemade treats, refurbished finds, baked goods, and other unique products from vendors across Nebraska and neighboring states. Late entries are still being accepted, though space is limited.
Families are in for a treat with the KidZone in front of the Maxine White Public Library. Kids can enjoy bounce houses, games, and interactive art activities hosted by local businesses and organizations. Proceeds from the KidZone will benefit Christian’s Cause, an initiative dedicated to promoting life jacket safety for children.
Hungry shoppers can refuel at the event’s Food Court, where a variety of food trucks will serve everything from street tacos to sweet treats. Plus, the vendor raffle is back with prizes generously donated by the makers themselves. Stop by the Chamber booth to enter and see what treasures you could take home.
The highlight of the day? The Grand Prize Raffle, where one lucky winner will take home a brand-new 2023 John Deere Gator, courtesy of the Sutherland Chamber of Commerce. Only 400 tickets are available at $100 each, offering excellent odds. Remaining tickets will be sold at the Chamber booth on the day of the event, with the drawing taking place at 1:00 p.m.
The Makers Market coincides with the Sutherland Girls Varsity Volleyball Invitational, which brings teams and families from across southwest Nebraska, including Overton, Dundy County/Stratton, Southwest, South Loup, North Platte St. Pat’s, Chase County, and Hitchcock County. With visitors exploring downtown between matches, foot traffic at the market is expected to stay strong all day.
Local businesses such as Allsorts Boutique, Mug Coffee Shop, Big Eye Spinnerbaits, the Longhorn Bar, Sutherland Sno*White, Pronto, and Stolen Vault Records will also be open, welcoming visitors and adding to the festive atmosphere.
With gorgeous fall weather expected, the Sutherland Makers Market promises to be a highlight of the season. Bring your family, enjoy the festivities, and support local makers right in the heart of the community!
