North Platte, Ne - Around 3am Saturday a small cluster of storms rolled through Lincoln County, however they packed a punch with winds that uprooted trees and even took the roof off an outbuilding at Mead Lumber at the corner of 6th and Eastman.
Dillon and Crystal Johnson live across the the street to the south and said "the wind hit around 3am, we heard a loud bang (sound) and the electricity went off." The Johnson's said city workers were quick to the scene and began to clear the street and work on getting electricty restored which they did about 50 minutes later. When the roof blew off it caught the power line as it sailed across the street.
Brandon Jones, Vice President of Construction Operations at Beveridge Incorporated was on the scene Saturday morning and said they were bringing in an excavator to help get the roof out of the tree.
There was damage all over North Platte including the airport where Trego Dugan had hanger doors damaged.
The National Weather Service was out surveying damage Saturday morning but hasn't released a statement in regards to what may have played a part in the wind damage. The Weather Service is calling for partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 87 today. North northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
