Barbara Eileen Kohl-Matthews, age 74, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away November 19, 2020 at Bryan East in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born February 18, 1946 to Edward and Pauline (Larson) Kohl in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Barbara grew up in North Platte. She married Gary A. Matthews in Stockville, Nebraska and to this union four children were born, Tom, Polly, Gary “Bo”, and Art. They lived in various places and lived in Germany where Gary was stationed. They eventually settled in North Platte.
Barbara was a waitress at the Skelly Inn and later worked at the visitor’s center at Cody Park. She enjoyed cooking and camping. She was a very good mother and grandmother to her family.
Survivors include three children, Tom (Kathleen) Matthews of North Platte, NE, Polly (Jackie) Ballard of North Carolina, Gary (Karen) Matthews of Paxton, NE; grandchildren, Halee (Jesse) Johansen of Grand Island, NE, Sidney (Curtis) Patterson of North Platte, NE, Kerec Gillmore of North Platte, NE, Amber Star (Gundy) Hampton of North Carolina, Amber Rae (Chase) Christen of Broken Bow, NE, Shaylee (Jeremy) Baker of Gothenburg, NE, Jamie Lee (Brandon) Faiman of Wallace, NE, Jacklyn (Kirk) Royston of North Carolina; many great grandchildren; siblings, Gail (Judy) Kohl of Imperial,NE, Ron (Nona) Kohl of North Platte, NE, and Bruce (Kate) Kohl of North Platte, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Art; daughter, Michelle.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2020 at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte, NE with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. Those wishing to sign the book may do so noon-6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte which is in charge of arrangements. The service will be livestreamed on Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those not able to attend.
