Thomas Arthur “Tom” Norton, 66, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away March 22, 2023 at Great Plains Health in North Platte. He was born February 23, 1957 in Winchester, Kansas to Bernard and Phyllis (Clark) Norton.
Tom graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1975. He attended Mid Plains Community College mechanics. He worked as a truck driver for 10 years and at Erickson’s Furniture for over 25 years. Tom was united in marriage to Doreen E. Shirley. To this union 5 sons were born: Mike, Tommy, Richard, Tim and Johnny.
Tom received a Good Samaritan Award because he saved a man’s life. He enjoyed playing pool. His family was the center of his life.
Tom is survived by his wife Doreen, North Platte, Nebraska; children, Mike Norton, Tommy Norton, Richard (Danyelle), Tim (Stephanie) Norton, Johnny Norton; grandchildren, Keedyn, Mayson, Alexander, Jamie (John) Fabian, Brooklynn, Christopher, Jaedyn, Nicholas, Avery, Emberlee, all of North Platte; great-grandchildren, Daklin; sister, Kathy (Bob) Trembley, Hershey, Nebraska; nephew, Caleb (Amy) Trembley, North Platte, Nebraska; niece, Megan Trembley, North Platte, Nebraska; along with other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Phyllis Norton.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at North Platte Cemetery with Pastor Andres Walker officiating. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
