
Mary Jane “Janie” Drost Davis, died on November 20, 2022, peacefully at her home in North Platte, NE., at the age of 88 years 6 months. She was born on May 17, 1934 in Ogallala, NE., to the late Dr. W.V. Drost and Muriel Minnie Welsh Drost.
Janie married George O. Davis, father of her nine children on July 20, 1950. She was a mother and homemaker. Janie was a woman of prayer and faith, who walked closely with the Lord. As she embraced the demands, struggles and joy of life. Her Catholic Christian Faith sustained her. Janie was a lifelong member of the Altar Society/Council of Catholic Women. She was active in Catholic Cursillo. Janie was very active in several Al Anon groups and sponsored many individuals whose loved ones were also in recovery. After raising her nine children, she worked as a caregiver.
Janie is survived by her nine children and spouses; Scott (Marcy Rector) Davis, Shanny Davis, Chris (Leasa Hayes) Davis, Linda Roggow, Marty (Donna Carlson) Davis, Tricia (Ted) Ferguson, Michael (Joan Toro) Davis, Kelly (Marianne Waller) Davis, and Andy (Angela Amsberry) Davis; her siblings, Annette Reimers, Kay Suhr, Bill and Carol Drost and brother-in-law D.R. Altig; 28 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Janie was preceded in death by three sisters, Susan Bradley, Barbara Hinde and Margy Altig; 4 brothers-in-law; son-in-law Dwight Roggow and granddaughter Leslie Davis.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022. On the day of the funeral; viewing will be at 9:00 A.M. (CT), Rosary 9:30 A.M., funeral mass will be at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2801 West E, North Platte, NE. Burial will be at the Ogallala Cemetery in Ogallala, NE on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. (MT). Father Sagar will be presiding and assisted by Father Stephen Deaver and Deacon Michael Davis.
Visitation will be at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 23 from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M.
