Students, faculty and staff at Mid-Plains Community College can now securely connect to wireless networks at participating educational institutions across Nebraska and around the world through a new partnership with ConnectEd Nebraska and eduroam.

This partnership allows students, staff, administration and faculty to safely obtain instant wireless access at all participating sites using their existing campus username and password.

Credentials are kept secure because they are forwarded to the user’s home institution to be verified, eliminating the need to create additional accounts or seek guest access.

"This collaboration makes it easier for our students, faculty and staff to stay connected wherever their educational journey takes them," said MPCC Director of Information Technology Trent Wiese.

The ConnectEd Nebraska project is funded by the Nebraska Department of Education through a combination of federal and state funding.

Eduroam provides access at over 38,000 locations in more than 100 countries.
