
Edward Dale Dowell, age 81, of North Platte, NE passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Great Plains Hospital in North Platte. He was born on November 8, 1940 to Douglas and Esther (Welch) Dowell in North Platte, NE.
He lived in North Platte all of his life, and graduated from North Platte High School in 1959. Ed served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. He married Jeanie Burton and to this marriage was born a son, Scott and a daughter, Dana. In November 1966, he married Barbara (Neumann) Lieberth and her five boys, Dan, Tommy, Larry, Jerry and Garry. To this marriage Steven was born. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 30 years and retired in 2006. Because of his love for cars, he was an active member in Colonel Cody Cruise Club. Ed was also a member of the Eagles and VFW.
Preceding him in death were his parents and three of his sons, Garry, Larry and Thomas Lieberth.
Surviving Ed are, the love of his life for 55 years, Barbara; his son, Scott Dowell (Amber) of Arizona; daughter, Dana Beck (Dan) of Wyoming; sons, Steven Dowell (Cindy) of North Dakota, Dan Lieberth (Bonnie) of Arizona, and Jerry Lieberth (Sandy) of Nebraska; sister, Velda Gray of Georgia; and sisters-in-law, Sandy Reisinger of Colorado and Carol Neumann of Florida; 26 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte. Those wishing to sign the guest book may do so on Tuesday, November 23rd from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date.
