News Release Nebraska Dept. of Tourism

The 2022 Official “Not-At-All What You Thought” Nebraska State Travel Guide is now available for those looking for inspiration on where to go and what to do on their next trip.

“Unbeknownst to some, Nebraska is a great travel destination. There are wide-open spaces, plenty of outdoor adventures, family-friendly fun, unique stops, delicious local cuisine and more,” said John Ricks, Nebraska Tourism executive director. “We want people to know about all of the great things our state has to offer, and the Travel Guide gives them a glimpse of that.”

The Nebraska Travel Guide is a helpful tool for planning a trip to Nebraska. It highlights things to see and do all across the state through beautiful pictures, vivid descriptions, and of course with some quirkiness and humor to maintain the same tone as the state’s viral tourism campaign, “Nebraska. Honestly, it’s not for everyone.” This year’s guide features ideas for family-friendly road trips, delicious Nebraska cuisine, home-grown and hand-picked local goods and outdoor recreation opportunities that offer beautiful views.

The cover features an image of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, a foot bridge suspended over the Missouri River on the east side of Omaha. Often referred to as “Bob the Bridge,” it showcases beautiful views of the Omaha skyline and river.

In 2021, the Nebraska Tourism Commission printed 200,000 copies of the travel guide and distributed them to all 50 states and numerous countries.
