A 43-year-old North Platte man was arrested after police responded to a reported domestic disturbance Saturday night that ended with gunshots being fired inside an occupied residence.
According to the North Platte Police Department, officers were called to the 2600 block of Anna at about 10:30 p.m. on August 29.
Officers contacted a female victim who said she and four other people had returned to the residence after a night out. Police said a disturbance then occurred between the woman and her boyfriend, 43-year-old Jason Tiedje.
During the argument, Tiedje allegedly locked the woman outside of the residence. While an officer attempted to make contact with Tiedje at the front door, police said the woman entered the home through the rear and was allegedly assaulted by Tiedje.
Tiedje then reportedly went into an adjacent room, possibly intending to obtain a firearm.
For their safety, officers escorted the other five people out of the residence. Police said that seconds after they had left the home, officers heard several gunshots coming from inside.
After a short period of time, Tiedje followed officers' commands and exited the residence. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Police secured the residence and obtained a search warrant. Several firearms and several hundred rounds of ammunition were seized during the search.
Tiedje was arrested on charges of third-degree assault — domestic violence, a Class I misdemeanor; five counts of terroristic threats, each a Class IIIA felony; use of a firearm to commit a felony, a Class IC felony; unlawful and intentional discharge of a firearm at an occupied dwelling, a Class ID felony; and criminal attempt at first-degree assault, a Class IIA felony.
Tiedje was incarcerated at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
The allegations have not been proven in court, and Tiedje is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
