Socorro Maria Murillo (1941-2020)

     Socorro Maria Murillo, resident of Imperial, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday evening, December 12, 2020 at her home in Imperial.  She was 79 years of age.
     Socorro was born on August 4, 1941 in Rotan, Texas to Fernando & Laurencia (Fernandez) Perez.  As a young girl, Socorro grew up and attended school in Texas before moving to Colorado.
     Socorro met Gregorio Murillo in Colorado and the couple were married on September 7, 1967 in Greeley, Colorado.  Socorro & Gregorio settled in Ft. Lupton, Colorado where they lived for several years before making Imperial, Nebraska their home.  Socorro was a homemaker and a daycare provider.  She was also a Girl Scout troop leader.
     Socorro enjoyed listening to music and driving around with Gregorio.  She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
     Socorro was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando & Laurencia Perez; her husband, Gregorio Murillo; brothers Alejandro and Oscar Perez; sisters Carmen and Connie Perez; and a grandson Luiz Quezada.
     Survivors include her daughters, Esperanza "Jessie" Murillo, Mary Quezada (Jamie), Irma Murillo (Rueben Munoz), Angie Murillo, and Veronica Murillo, all of Imperial, Nebraska; her sons, Gregorio Murillo III (Maria), and Ray Murillo (Stacy Fosbinder), both of Imperial, Nebraska; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
     Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday morning, December 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Mountain Time at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Imperial, Nebraska with Father Lothar Gilde as celebrant.  Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
     Visitation will be held on Friday afternoon, December 18, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Imperial.
     A Rosary will be recited Friday eventing, December 18, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Imperial.
     A memorial has been suggested to the Murillo Family for a future designation.
