NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A North Platte man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman.
According to North Platte police, on August 24, officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Burlington Blvd on an assault complaint.
Officers met with a 25-year-old female victim who reported she was assaulted by a former boyfriend, Michael Flores.
Police say it was reported that Michael was at the residence visiting children that the couple share in common. An argument ensued and it was reported that Michael punched the victim in the head then left. This assault took place in front of the children, according to police.
Officers attempted to locate Michael to arrest him on suspicion of domestic assault and child abuse but were unsuccessful.
On August 25, officers were summoned back to the same residence as it was reported that Michael had returned and assaulted the victim again. Michael left prior to police arrival. However, police say Michael returned and yelled at the victim about money then he put both hands around the victim's neck and cut off her breathing. Michael allegedly told the victim if she calls the police or if he goes to jail he will get someone else to assault her.
Police say the victim had an injury to her neck consistent with what was reported. The victim is also currently pregnant.
Warrants were issued for the assault in both cases, and for strangulation, terroristic threats, and witness tampering for threatening violence if she reported the incidents to police.
On November 19 at 3:43 PM, officers saw Flores on foot near 4th and Poplar Streets. Officers attempted to make contact with Flores but say he ran and was captured after a brief foot chase.
He was arrested for the warrants along with a resisting arrest allegation.
