
NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A former North Platte city councilman and mayoral candidate has been arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of liquor.
According to North Platte Police, on July 31, at 7:12 PM, a citizen reported a black pickup with red lettering on its sides for poor driving behavior in the area of Buffalo Bill Avenue and Rodeo Road.
Police say an officer observed a pickup matching that description traveling eastbound in the 1100 block of Rodeo Road.
According to police, as the officer passed the pickup they recognized the driver as Larry Britton. The officer was aware that Britton had a warrant for his arrest and suspended driver's license.
Police say a traffic stop was conducted and Britton displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.
Police say Britton failed a preliminary breath test and submitted to a blood test to which the results are not yet available.
Britton was incarcerated on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol 4th offense, over .15 and driving under suspension. He was also arrested for the active warrant.
Britton served on the North Platte city council and was on the primary ticket for mayor in 2020.
Britton was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in March of 2020.
