NebraskaLand Bank is inviting the community to give back and help save lives on April 21. The bank's main location at 1400 S Dewey Street will be hosting a blood drive from noon to 4 pm. This event was coordinated by a team of NebraskaLand Bank employees participating in their 25th anniversary project, Project Blank.

Project Blank is an initiative that challenges NebraskaLand Bank employees to come up with creative projects that will benefit their local communities. Through this project, the bank hopes to not only provide much-needed aid but also give its employees an opportunity to use their skills and ingenuity for good. The team coordinating this blood drive is particularly passionate about saving lives and giving the gift of blood.

“Blood donations are essential for treating patients in emergency situations,” said Brandi Summers, Project Blank team leader at NebraskaLand Bank. “We want our community to know that they can make a difference by donating blood and help those who need it most.”

Donating blood is easy and only takes about an hour of your time. Blood is a perishable product that can only come from generous volunteers. By donating blood, individuals can make a difference in the lives of patients in their community and throughout the nation.

To make an appointment or to learn more, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device. Completion of a RapidPass online health history questionnaire is encouraged to help speed up the donation process. To get started, follow the instructions at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or use the Blood Donor App. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

NebraskaLand Bank is proud to be able to offer this life-saving service to its community members through its Project Blank initiative. All donors will receive free snacks, beverages and T-shirts.
