Community Baby Showers to be held in Keith, Red Willow counties

News Release Families 1st Partnership

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.- Healthy Blue, a Nebraska Medicaid provider, will be partnering with Families 1st Partnership to host Community Baby Showers in Keith County and Red Willow County. Through Community Baby Showers, Healthy Blue creates more opportunities for its members to access local services and resources. As Families 1st Partnership expands initiatives to underserved areas in the region, the possibility of hosting Community Baby Showers with Healthy Blue was a good match for bringing together community partners and providing services to families with infants and toddlers. Healthy Blue will provide $3000 for Families 1st Partnership to purchase items for Infant or toddler diaper kits for the two events.

The Red Willow County event is planned and promoted by members of the SouthWest NE Child Advocacy Team. The event will be 10am-noon on March 19th at McCook Christian Church during the monthly “Caring & Sharing” Day. Local infant serving agencies will be participating as well.

April 2, 2022 will be the Keith County Community Baby Shower planned in coordination with Keith County Communities for Kids who are hosting a kick-off to celebrate the Week of the Young Child. It will start at 10 am MDT at “Kid’s Oasis”-601 West 9th St., Ogallala, NE.

Families 1st Partnership has operated as a non-profit organization since January 2019 and serves as the backbone organization for collaborative efforts in Lincoln County. The focus of the collaborative partners is to prevent children and at risk youth from going into higher systems of care. With this goal in mind, Families 1st Partnership encourages other local agencies in their work and offers support in the form of trainings or financial assistance to the agency’s participants. In addition to financial support to stabilize families, there is sponsorship of parenting classes and family activities.

In the 3 years since acquisition of non-profit status, Families 1st Partnership has provided $601,660 regionally in assistance for housing, transportation, childcare, daily living needs, and supplies for childcare providers. In the training of frontline workers, $15,657 has been made available for trainings relevant to working with at risk populations.

Families 1st Partnership receives grant funding from Nebraska Children and Families Foundation.
