It is with great sadness and love that the family of Tyler Jon Donohue announces his untimely passing on December 28, 2023, in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Tyler was born in McCook, NE on February 11, 1984, to Jon and Brenda (Rife) Donohue. Tyler was the youngest of four children, graduating with the Class of 2003. He was active in football and track and was a defensive starter for the Bison Football Team that won state his senior year.
Following graduation from McCook High School, Tyler served our country in the United States Army as part of the 101st Airborne in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He received the following awards: Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Air Assault Badge.
After five years of service and one tour in Iraq, Tyler joined the National Guard in McCook. He then transferred to the Colorado National Guard in Watkins, Colorado where he was also a part of the National Guard Biathlon Team that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, Tyler furthered his education at Colorado State University where he was a member of the CSU Rams Cycling Team. In 2013, he began his career at the Denver Federal Center, Bureau of Land Management, receiving numerous promotions until his passing.
Tyler’s personal life was just as successful as his professional life. He was passionate about running, biking and working out as much as possible. He completed the Colorado Trail in just under ten days, biking over 567 total miles. On his last day on earth, he ran almost 18 miles. Tyler was always seeking the toughest physical challenges. He also loved deer hunting with his family in Stratton.
Tyler loved his family, his friends and his life adventures. He would often have his niece sing “When A Hero Comes Along” as he entered the room, although it was mainly him singing. He was and always will be our hero.
Tyler was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daniel and Rawleyce (West) Rife and James and Betty (Scheetz) Donohue; aunts, Danette Baxter and Angie Plummer; uncle, Jim Donohue; and cousin, Larrissa Rife.
Those left to celebrate his life are his parents, Jon and Brenda Donohue of McCook; three sisters, Lindsay (Mike) Dunagan of Elizabeth, CO, Laurie Donohue of Parker, CO and Shannon (Fidel Ramos) Donohue of Littleton, CO; three much loved nieces, Ava Donohue and Molly and Emma Dunagan; beloved girlfriend, Melissa Perez and dog, Cam; aunts and uncles, Becky (Mike) Evers, Don (Melba) Rife, Debra (LaMoine) Guinn, Dan (Via) Rife, Mary (Gregg) Boone, John Plummer, Greg (DeDe) Donohue, David Baxter and Farrell Donohue; along with many very special cousins and friends.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, January 6th at 10:00 am at Cornerstone Fellowship in McCook. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in rural Stratton. Visitation will be Thursday, January 5th from 5 to 7 pm with family present to greet friends at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
