Lincoln police investigating shooting death of 48-year-old man

LINCOLN, Neb.-Police in Lincoln are investigating a homicide after a 48-year-old was found shot to death.

According to Lincoln police, at approximately 5:04 a.m. on Monday, Lincoln Police officers responded to a disturbance call in the 1300 block of Washington Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a 48-year-old male had been shot by another person and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

Police say they are working to notify the family of the deceased, and thank the public for respecting their privacy.

Police say investigators are interviewing witnesses to determine the events that preceded the shooting and crime scene technicians are in the preliminary stages of the investigation and will continue to process the scene.

Residents should expect a law enforcement presence in the area to assist crime scene technicians and canvass the area. There is no on-going threat to the public.
