Connie M. Brandes (1932-2020)

Connie M. Brandes, 87, of Deming, New Mexico, formerly of Maywood, NE, passed away on September 1, 2020, in Deming. Connie was born November 19, 1932, to Henry C. and Veda M (Ryker) Cooper, in Wellfleet, NE. She attended grade school at Opal Springs and graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1951.

Connie was dating someone else at the time and had a date with him one evening, when Chuck stopped by unexpectedly, he persuaded Connie to go out with him and would not take no for an answer. They married on March 18, 1951 at the Wellfleet Baptist Church, which lead to a wonderful life together and have had many great memorable times together, wonderful travels, also three wonderful children and 7 very special grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, which enriched their lives immensely. They lived in Maywood where Chuck and Connie owned and operated the telephone company, until 1977, Connie ran the switchboard. They moved to Yuma, AZ for a year, then to Ramona, CA.   They went to full time motor homing for several years before settling in Deming, NM.

Connie was an herbalist and very knowledgeable about natural remedies. She was a very caring and loving person, always had empathy for her family. She was a 4H leader and taught knitting.

Survivors include her husband Chuck of Deming, NM, three children; Monty (Carol) Brandes, Sierra Vista, AZ, Mark (Julie) Brandes, North Platte, NE, Karen (James) Perdew, Ramona, CA; sister; Anita Berghouse, Ramona, CA; seven grandchildren; Aaron (Mandy) Brandes, North Platte, Amy Brandes, North Platte, Adam (Keiko) Brandes, Japan, Jesse (Christina) Brandes, North Platte, Nicole (Kyle) Austin, North Platte, Brandon (Stephanie) Perdew, Ramona, CA and Brittney (BJ) Zarcone, Ramona, CA, nine great grandchildren; Kaiden, Heilo, Kamryn, Kenadi, Andrew, Lilly, Zane, Garrett and Ryker. Along with numerous other family members and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents and brothers Roland and Blaine.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE. Services will follow all current health directives regarding COVID-19. The service will be livestreamed via Adams and Swanson Facebook page for those that cannot attend. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
