
R. Bruce Haskell, age 92, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on February 3, 2021 at Linden Court in North Platte. He was born on July 21, 1928 to Kent and Alice (Johnson) Haskell in Arnold, Nebraska.
Bruce graduated from Stapleton High School in Stapleton, Nebraska with the Class of 1946. He was active in sports, earning letters in football and basketball. Bruce graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Journalism.
Bruce grew up on a Sandhills ranch and spent the early years of his life with livestock, his 'first love.' After high school, he went to Wyoming and was employed at Wyoming Hereford Ranch before starting college. After college, he took a job with an agriculture chemical manufacturing company in the sales division. He was in that type of work for many years and worked in many different states in the Midwest.
Bruce was in the United States Army from 1951-1953, with one year of that being in Japan. His assignment was in the Veterinary Corp. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Survivors include two children: Brooke Meyer of McMinnville, Oregon and Chad (Melissa) Haskell of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Riley and don; and his sister, Gayle (Bud) McGooden.
Memorials are suggested to the 20th Century Veterans Memorial.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte, Nebraska with Pastor Roy Monahan officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska.
Visitation will be held from noon to 4:00 p.m., with the family present from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
