UPDATED North Platte physician diagnosed with COVID-19 passes away

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-Anyone who has spent any time living in North Platte knows the name, Dr. Lee Lamberty.

Dr. Leland Lamberty passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

After being admitted to the hospital with complications from COVID-19 in late-August, Dr. Lamberty was placed on a ventilator on September 4, according to family and friends.

Dr. Lamberty was in practice at Great Plains Family Medicine. He graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Medicine in 1971 and has practiced family medicine since.

Longtime Great Plains Health physician, Leland Lamberty, MD, died Saturday, September 12 due to complications of COVID-19.

“Dr. Lamberty was loved and respected by all who worked with him,” said Mel McNea, Great Plains Health chief executive officer. “His presence on our medical staff and in the community will be missed. He was a visionary, a mentor and a friend to many. He truly loved practicing medicine and serving his patients and it showed.”

Dr. Lamberty’s Covid-19 condition is believed to be the result of community-spread. He was a firm believer in the effectiveness of personal protective equipment and never wavered from wearing it while serving patients in the clinic.
