Leroy H. Cooper, 72, of North Platte, NE passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Leroy was born on June 5, 1952 to Raymond and Leora (Paul) Cooper in Cheyenne, WY.
Leroy graduated high school and proceeded to marry Sandy Sneed early on in his life. To this union were born his sons Robert and Rodney Cooper who remained his pride and joy until his passing.
Leroy spent much of his younger years traveling, exploring nature wherever he roamed. The twists and turns of life took him from the scenic mountains and beaches of California to the bountiful marshes of Florida. During his travels, he continued his hobbies of fishing and hunting, picking up his beloved Irish Setter dogs Jigger and Willie along the way. He loved his dogs and spent many an evening enjoying the outdoors with them. Leroy also worked for Union Pacific as a track grinder for many years, ensuring the safe travels of many conductors and materials.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters who died in infancy, brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Betty Cooper, brother-in-law Daniel Bunce, and nephew Joseph Bunce.
Leroy is survived by his two sons Robert (Michelle) Cooper of Arnold, MO, and Rodney of Arnold, MO; sisters Linda Bunce of Centennial, CO, and Laurie Keefer of North Platte; brother Richard Cooper of North Platte; three grandsons, three granddaughters, seven nephews, four nieces, two great grandchildren, and numerous great nephews and nieces.
The Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Doug Lee officiating. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
