Larrie E. Johnson passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at his home in Cozad at the age of 80. Larrie was born April 8, 1943 at Lexington, Nebraska to Raymond and Beverly (Arent) Johnson. He graduated from UNSA in Curtis with the class of 1960. He married Janice Rhinehart on June 18, 1963. Their union was blessed with 5 children: Brenda, Phyllis, Rick, Jennifer and Lacey. Larrie worked at Monroe Auto right out of high school and farmed for one year, before going to work at Paulsen, Inc. where he retired after 56 years of faithful employment. Larrie enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family. He loved spending time with family and adored his grandchildren. Larrie could fix anything and was a skilled welder. He once built a duck blind that family referred to as “the bomb shelter”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and in laws, Lloyd and Jennie Rhinehart.
Survivors include his wife, Janice of Cozad; children, Brenda (Farren) Stombaugh of Cozad, Phyllis Johnson of Cozad, Rick (Stacie) Johnson of North Platte, Jennifer (Jason) Schneider of Cozad, and Lacey (Allen) Anderson of Cozad; sister, Sharon (Larry) Call of Omaha; grandchildren, Jonathan (Cassy) Smith, Heather (Mark Neville) Smith, Christopher Smith, Jessica Tolle, Taryn Stombaugh, Trey (Alex) Stombaugh, Kim (Josh) Zwickl, Dillon (Crystal) Johnson, Samantha (Connor) Smith, Alyssa Klint) Gill, Gracie Schneider, Jayden Anderson, and Landen Anderson; 14 great grandchildren, and 3 more on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorials are suggested to Cozad Fire & Rescue or the Cozad Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ on Newell with Pastor David Haynes officiating. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so on Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
