Daniel Marks, 56, of McCook, passed away early Saturday morning, January 1, 2022 at his home just outside McCook. Daniel Dean Marks was born on June 21, 1965 in McCook, Nebraska to Willard and Janette (Weiss) Marks. Danny was a fighter from day one; he underwent his first surgery at just a month of age. He would face some lifelong challenges due to his childhood illnesses, but they did not stop him from attended school and graduating with the McCook High School Class of 1983.
After graduation, Danny studied welding in North Platte, Nebraska. He returned to McCook where he worked for Cornbelt Chemical Company. Ongoing health issues forced his early retirement, but Danny kept himself busy watching the local buy, sell, trade pages where he would trade and collect model tractors. He also enjoyed building models, sand jars, and making jewelry for his family and friends. Danny kept a constant eye on the weather; he and his sister, Sheila served southwest Nebraska as weather spotters.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. Survivors include his parents, Willard and Janette Marks of McCook; brother, Jon Marks of Culbertson; sister, Sheila (Chris) Hull of Culbertson; sister, Melissa (Chris) Craig of Oberlin, Kansas; niece, Erin Marks; as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Cremation was chosen and graveside services are being planned for a later date.
