Larry Duane Hobbs, 82, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 at his home in North Platte, Nebraska. He was born June 28, 1941 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Lawrence and Ada Ramona (McCaslin) Hobbs.

Larry spent his younger years in Sidney and North Platte, Nebraska. He later began his career as a musician, traveling with different bands all over the country. On December 1, 1959 he was united in marriage to Geraldine (Smith) Terry in North Platte. To this union 3 children were born: Tamela (Hobbs) Tickle, Tonja (Hobbs) Cox, and Todd Hobbs. Larry opened his first restaurant in North Platte at the age of 21 and continued on this career path owning multiple restaurants throughout his lifetime until finally retiring in 2020. 

Larry married Linda Wheeler on February 17, 1973, in Cheyenne, Wyoming and later moved to Grand Island, Nebraska.

To this union 2 daughters: Keni (Hobbs) Lee, and Kristin (Hobbs) Brauer were born. Larry and Linda played music together, often traveling to different gigs across the state. In 1990, Larry and Linda settled in North Platte, Nebraska and opened Hobb"E's restaurant where he was known by many for his home cooked meals, soups, and pies.  

In 2018, Larry was inducted into the Nebraska Country Music Hall of Fame for his outstanding efforts devoted to the progression of country music. His passion for music continued throughout his later years, where he enjoyed playing guitar and singing with the bands “Cruzin,” and most recently, the band, “Top Shelf County,” which Larry had the privilege once again, along with his fellow band members, of being inducted into the 2023 Nebraska Country Music Hall of Fame. Larry will be most remembered as a kind and generous man who was loved by his family and many friends. He had a special bond with his children and grandchildren and was admired and adored by each and every one of them. He will be greatly missed by many.

Larry is survived by his children, Tonja (Dodd) Cox, Grand Island, Nebraska, Todd Hobbs, of Red Cloud, Nebraska, David Frame, Fort Myers, Florida, Keni (David Shaner) Lee, North Platte, Nebraska, Kristin Brauer, North Platte, Nebraska, Jennii Herrick, North Platte, Nebraska, Britney (Joshua Hicks) Williams, North Platte, Nebraska; grand and great-grandchildren; Tamela, Jenni (Preslli, Jhett), Britney, (Joshlyn, Londyn), Tonja, Courtney, (Kyrni, Kielea, Bently, Bracyn), KyLea, (Boone, Huntley) Todd, Damon, (Lilly, Damon Jr., Brody, Derek, (Audryna), Devon, (Marleigh), Keni, Stephanie, (Jace, Dante), Zachary, (Parker), Mason (Haven) Lee, Liberty, Kristin, Gavyn, Haedyn, Hunter, Ethan; along with nieces, nephews and many special friends, including Sara Winchell of North Platte, Trinity Terry, Aspen, Colorado, Traci Florez, Omaha, Nebraska.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Linda Hobbs, daughter and son-in-law, Tamela (Trevor) Tickle; grandson, Issac Williams, sister, Norma (Hobbs) McConahay.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Harvest Christian Church with Rev. Jeremy Rinke and Pastor Trinity Terry officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at North Platte Cemetery. Book signing will be from 12-7, with family receiving friends from 5-7, Friday, December 15 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.
