
Lillian Welden, 99 ¼ , of North Platte, Nebraska passed away November 28, 2022 at Sutherland Care Center, Sutherland, Nebraska. She was born July 25, 1923 to Bob Jones and Maggie (Thurman) Johnson in Crystal Springs, Mississippi.
Lillian graduated from Crystal Springs High School. After graduation she worked in New Orleans at a steakhouse. While she was working, she met Donald Welden. They were married October 23, 1944 in Tallahassee, Florida where Don was stationed at the time. To this union five children were born, Donna Lou, Jay Robert, Lee Maynard, Lynnell, and Crystal Kay. After Don was discharged from the service the family moved to Minnesota. Then they moved to North Platte, Nebraska to raise mink. Lillian always had a job, a mink ranchers’ wife, was a waitress at Joe’s Supper Club for several years, was a top saleswoman for Superior Insurance and, original Comcast Cable salesperson across America. She could sell anything to anyone. Lillian was always surrounded by friends, because no one was a stranger to her. She was proud of her age and the life she lived. She loved to dance. Her favorite dancing partner was Bob Lineback. She was a strong woman both physically and mentally. Lillian was a good Christian woman; she loved reading her Bible and she had a deep abiding faith in her Lord. Her greatest accomplishment was raising five children that are all strong in their faith. She was the biggest supporter of all her children growing up. She did everything to make sure she was at every event her kids participated. She loved to shop and her biggest hobby was socializing. Lillian will always be remembered as making the best fried chicken and French fries. You could always see her excitement about life in her eyes.
Lillian is survived by her children, Jay (Sandy) Welden, North Platte, Nebraska, Lee Welden, North Platte, Nebraska, Lynnell Welden, Copperas Cove, Texas, and Crystal (Bill) Stewart, Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren Greg Collins, Brandon Collins, and Bradley Welden, Christine Butterfield, Joshua Welden, Seth Welden, Donnelle Pegram and JT Stewart; nine great grand-children and 6 great-great grandchildren; son-in-law Wayne Collins; along with many other family members and friends.
Preceding her in death; her husband Donald; parents Bob and Maggie; daughter Donna Collins; daughter-in-law Gerri Welden; siblings, Ruby, BJ, Walter, Hugh, Nellie and Jimmy.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M., Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Wing officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday at 11:30 A.M. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. following the service at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
