James Edward 'Jim' Kaspari (1937-2020)

James Edward Kaspari, age 83, of Sutherland, Nebraska passed away October 6, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.

He was born in York, Nebraska on July 16, 1937 to Louis Vincent and Helen Marie Kaspari. He attended country school and St. Joseph High School. After graduation he worked with his dad on their farm and in 1955 began employment with Geis Irrigation in Nebraska and Kansas.

Jim was drafted into the Army in 1961 and after basic training; he attended Fort Holabird Intelligence School in Baltimore and later served in the 702nd Intelligence Corps, 3rd Army until his discharge in 1963.

He returned to his employment with Geis and worked in sales and management at several of their locations for 30 years. Jim’s last employment before he retired in 2013 was with Titan Industries as operations manager at their Paxton, Nebraska location where he worked for 21 years.

In 1994, Jim married Pearl Brady. They made their home in Sutherland.

He is survived by his wife Pearl of Sutherland; 2 sisters, Rita Owens of McPherson, KS and Dorothy (Steve) Ulrey of Houston, TX; Jim’s closest nephew, Jeff Owens of Denver, CO; and numerous nephew’s and nieces.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bernard; and brother in law, Johnny Owens.

Burial of ashes will be 9:00 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2020 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska with Full Military Honors. Memorial Services will be 11:00a.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Doug Lee officiating. A book signing will be on Thursday, October 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date. The service will be livestreamed via Carpenter Memorial Chapel’s Facebook page for those that cannot attend.
