John Edward Brennemann, age 77, of Hyannis, Nebraska, passed into the next life on September 2, 2026. He went to meet his Lord from home in the company of family who loved him.
John was born to Ed and Glendora (Edelman) Brennemann on May 16, 1949. He was the second of three children. He spent a lot of time with Grandpa Rolf Brennemann and started going with the men of the ranch at a young age. He loved the ranching life and never doubted what he would do when he grew up. He was a precocious child and loved babies and people in general with only a few exceptions. John started school in the country but soon went to Hyannis and graduated high school in the class of '67.
He attended the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, NE, graduating in 1969. There he met his wife of 57 years, Delores Andersen, and they were married on June 8, 1969, at the United Methodist Church in Curtis, NE. They settled on the family ranch north of Hyannis. This union was blessed with two of the cutest boys, Bruce and Brian. During this time, the family toiled to preserve the generational legacy while building their character and vocabulary.
John's passion for machinery exhibited itself with his first purchase of a payloader in the late 1980's to grade tanks, which soon blossomed into Brennemann Contracting. The business greatly expanded his circle of influence from an already robust base. He worked on contracting jobs from Central Nebraska to Wyoming.
John embodied being a lifelong learner. He was eager to share his knowledge as he was to gain it. he never quit learning or lost his identity as a rancher.
John enjoyed every aspect and season of ranch life. Over the years the youth of the west filtered through the Brennemann Ranch. They gained a wealth of knowledge, work ethic, and personal value from John.
In 1994, John received a new title of Grandpa. He deeply cherished his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. In the few hours John wasn't working, he enjoyed babies, people, socializing, western movies, dancing, Delores' cooking, and country music. His sense of humor could lighten most situations and made him a favorite with his caregivers.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Glendora, and a sister, Sandy (Jim) Wallace.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Delores; sons: Bruce (Angel) and Brian (Sara); brother: Doug (Nicki); grandchildren: Jacob (Aubrey), Andrew, Aretta, Grace, Gary, Ella, Lila, and Skeet; and great granddaughter Adileya.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. MST at the Hyannis High School Lecture Hall. Refreshments to follow at the Winters Building.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grant County Rescue or Sandhills Fire Protection District.
