Cathleen “Kay” Timm, 80, of Council Bluffs, IA passed away on March 7, 2023 at Midlands Living Center after a tough 5 year battle with Alzheimer’s. Kay had a zest for life and fun that was unparalleled. She will be remembered for her quick wit, generosity, fun style, and card shark abilities. Kay believed in the power of positivity and would always say yes to a day on the water, a party invite, or an ask for help.

Kay was born and raised in North Platte, NE where she graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in 1960. After high school, Kay moved to the Omaha metro area for school. Kay graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing with her degree in 1963 and went on to become a nurse anesthetist (CRNA) until her retirement in 2005. She would tell anyone that asked: “I love my job – I’m a call girl who provides drugs and passes gas.”

Kay married Herman Timm in 1964 and had two beautiful daughters (Christine & Marianne). She divorced in 1988. She made a home on the shores of Lake Manawa where she fell in love with lake life. Kay was the grandmother to four wonderful grandchildren (Jaya, Tony, Sam, & Emma). She was loved by young children because she talked to them as equals and was up for any type of silliness.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lloyd & Marianne and her brother, Mark (a.k.a. Bear). She is survived by her two daughters; four grandchildren; three siblings (Lenore, Luke, & Jeannette); and many nieces and nephews.

We won’t say in lieu of flowers, because Kay loved flowers, but please consider a donation in Kay’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association. A “Celebration of Life” service will start at 5 pm and visitation with the family immediately following the eulogies on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Please join us for refreshments and fellowship at Barley’s after the celebration.
