A North Platte man was arrested Sunday, accused of attempting to rob a convenience store at knife-point.
According to North Platte Police on November 22, at 7:36 p.m., officers responded to Time Saver, in the 1200 Block of South Dewey Street, on the report of a robbery. Police say it was reported a male subject was armed with a knife and was demanding money from employees.
Upon arrival, officers learned the male suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Keith Darrach, was still inside the store and had locked himself in the bathroom.
According to witnesses, Darrach had entered the store and approached the counter. Darrach then pulled out a knife and held it to his wrist and demanded money from the cash register. The victims said that they refused to give Darrach money from the register and one of them was able to call the police during the incident.
Police say the victims stated that when they refused to give him money, Darrach walked to the bathroom and locked himself inside.
Officers were able to get the door to the bathroom open and Darrach was located inside. Darrach was taken into custody without incident.
Darrach was incarcerated at the Lincoln County Detention Center on suspicion of use of a weapon to commit a felony and attempted robbery.
