Clyde C. King, 77, of North Platte, passed away March 13, 2022 at home.  He was born on July 19, 1944 in Oshkosh to Charles and Goldie (Junod) King Sr.

At the age of two, Clyde moved with his family to Oshkosh where he grew to manhood.  Clyde attended Oshkosh Grade School and Garden County High School.  Later Clyde went to work for Haggard Drilling Company.  In April 1974 he moved to North Platte to work for Beveridge Well Drilling Corp. as a well driller.  Clyde retired in 2000.

In 1976, Clyde met Alice J. Lunkwitz and on April 23, 1977, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sutherland, they were married.  The couple lived in North Platte and as a hobby they raised exotic birds.  Clyde and Alice were foster parents caring for three dozen children over the years.  Clyde enjoyed woodworking and loved to make people smile with his creations.  He also loved to take the kids traveling and fishing, especially on the back roads.  He also loved history and visited many historical sites.

 Survivors include wife, Alice of North Platte; children, Charles Saunders of Bridgeport, Bobby Rego of North Platte, Ryan King of North Platte, Kyle King of North Platte, Misty (Jarrett) Smolarkiewicz of Hays, KS, Gillian (Brady) Filyaw of North Platte, Sheyenne Andersen of McCook, Marissa King (Brandon Torres) of North Platte; grandchildren, Ajoni, Kiros and Xayden Smolarkiewicz, Lyla Filyaw; brother, Ralph King of Oshkosh; numerous nieces and nephews, other family member and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, C. Raymond King Jr., Lee King; sisters, Josephine (Gilbert) Christensen, Ruth (Babe) Kimerling.

Services will be held 1:30 P.M., Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held noon-7:00 P.M., with family present from 5:00-7:00, Friday, March 18, 2022 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.  The service will be livestreamed via the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those unable to attend.
