Rex Thomas "Tennessee" Fuller, 79, formerly of North Platte, went home to be with the Lord on July 27, 2024, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Rex, the son of Rushell and Mabel (Elliott) Fuller, was born January 11, 1945, in Murray, Kentucky. He grew up in Jasper, Tennessee, then enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and served from 1963 to 1967. Rex's service took him to Atlanta, GA, and Grand Island, Nebraska, and that is where he met his future wife, Gloria Reynolds.
On August 17, 1968, Rex and Gloria were united in marriage and they made their home in North Platte. Rex hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in August of 1969 and worked until retiring in 2005 as Fireman/Oiler.
After Gloria died in 1998, Rex married Barbara Epping in North Platte. They retired to Paducah where Rex became an active member and deacon at Park Avenue Baptist Church.
Rex enjoyed watching horse racing and never missed a NASCAR race. He also loved being outdoors and could be found fishing, mowing, or taking care of the yard. Rex will be remembered as a proud Air Force veteran!
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Fuller; sons, Bill Fuller of North Platte and Thomas (Lori) Fuller of Kearney; stepson, Darren (Israel)Epping-Fuentes; grandchildren, Macy, Chance and Kade Fuller; his brother, Houston Fuller; and several loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with his first wife, Gloria, Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Rushell and Mabel Fuller; and five siblings, James "Red" Fuller, Clifford Fuller, Calvin "Dolly" Fuller, Melba Gholston and Bobby Joe Fuller.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 9 at Odean Colonial Chapel. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared atodeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
