Cozad, Neb. - Much of the western half of Nebraska has been experiencing dry heat and wind gust as much of the area is still in a Red Warning from the National Weather Service (NWS).&nbsp;

The Cozad Volunteer Fire Department wants residents in Cozad and surrounding areas near Cozad to know that a fire ban is in effect for the Cozad Fire District.&nbsp; No open burning is permitted, which includes fire pits, yard waste, burn barrels, no open flame. The fire ban for the Cozad Fire District is in effect until further notice.&nbsp;
