North Platte man accused of breaking into home, taking shower

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A North Platte man has been arrested after he allegedly entered an unoccupied residence and helped himself to a shower.

According to North Platte police, On August 23, 2020, at 1:06 p.m., officers responded to a suspicious activity call in the 300 Block of West 10th Street. 

Police say officers were advised that an unknown male was inside a residence that belonged to someone who was currently incarcerated. 

Officers arrived and reported they were able to see a shadow moving inside the home and, upon announcing their presence, they heard a door shut inside. 

According to police, officers then made contact with Terry Yonker inside the residence, who had decided to help himself to a shower and advised he had permission to be there. 

Officers contacted the resident in jail, who confirmed Yonker did not have permission to be in his house. 

Police found that Yonker entered the residence by removing the screen from a window.

When officers notified Yonker he was under arrest, they say he pulled away from them and physically resisted their efforts to arrest him. 

Police say Yonker was quickly taken into custody and jailed on suspicion of burglary and resisting arrest.
