The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday, September 8, with several items on the agenda including property tax discussions, projects at the Nebraska International Port of the Plains and a proposed forced control order for black-tailed prairie dogs.
The commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Lincoln County Courthouse. The Lincoln County Board of Equalization is scheduled to meet at 9:15 a.m.
At 9:20 a.m., commissioners will discuss setting a September 21 public hearing following the conclusion of the county's budget hearing. The hearing would allow the public to comment on setting the county's final property tax request at an amount different from the prior year's request.
The commissioners will then turn their attention to the Nebraska International Port of the Plains at 9:30 a.m. The board is scheduled to discuss bids, financing and construction for the port's pull yard, as well as a long-term lease agreement with the Nebraska International Port of the Plains.
At 9:55 a.m., commissioners will consider authorizing forced control of black-tailed prairie dogs on property at 914 East Lone Star Road. The property is located in Section 21 of Lincoln County.
The agenda also includes routine business, including approval of the August 31 commissioners meeting minutes, public comment, claims and receipts, and fee reports submitted by the Clerk of District Court and County Sheriff.
During the Board of Equalization meeting, commissioners will consider minutes from the August 31 meeting, public comment, certificates of correction and refund submitted by the County Assessor, and a motor vehicle tax exemption application submitted by the County Treasurer.
Commissioners may also enter closed session to discuss matters including pending or imminent litigation, real estate purchases, security personnel and devices, or job performance evaluations when permitted by law.
The meeting agenda also includes reports from elected officials and department heads, committee reports and a 2026-2027 Lincoln County budget work session.
